Looking back, he remembers fondly as \u201cfun\u201d going to see \u201clittle old ladies at three o\u2019clock in the afternoon.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Other parts of the day he might spend wandering around Rosedale\u2019s small business district.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat was in the days before we had \u2018dial\u2019 telephones. It was still central: \u2018Operator, give me number so-and-so\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd if Ruthie needed me when I was over in Rosedale, she\u2019d just call up the operator and say she was trying to find me, and the operator would say, \u2018My goodness! You know I think I just saw him walking across the street a minute ago. I think he was going to Michael\u2019s Caf\u00e9.
